What does it even mean to be saved? Saved from what? From whom? How? And if I am actually saved, now what? Understanding Salvation is a response to a growing crisis in the Church; many Christians struggle to understand what salvation fundamentally means. It is supernatural. It is powerful. It is miraculous. It is the greatest gift a sinner can receive.

But if we don't get the fundamentals right biblically, the consequence is that we feel stuck, or worse, deceived by misguided and false expectations. We get frustrated with God and we misunderstand ourselves because we do not know the extent of what God has accomplished. Furthermore, many Believers are intimidated by their Bibles and have a hard time making sense of the big picture. The result is spiritual stagnation. They sense there is more but do not know where to begin.

That is why Understanding Salvation was written. Our own church was in need of such a book and so initially we began writing it for us. Then about midway through we realized that nearly every church we knew of also struggled with discipleship. The Church is largely under-discipled and core doctrines have been gradually neglected over time. These two things, discipleship and doctrine, have both suffered losses and the Church has been weakened. Can anyone deny this? But this book aims to teach sound doctrine by way of discipleship, addressing both needs at once. Understanding Salvation teaches the Bible. But in the process it also teaches a disciple how to use, and how to trust the Bible. It is straight forward. It is simple. And it works!
