Scramble Street - Tapa blanda

Sinopsis

Inspired by the author's early childhood in Marietta, Ohio, Scramble Street is a charming children's book that brings the sights and spirit of the 1980s to life through a young child's eyes.

Like many children learning to speak, the young narrator struggles with tricky words-turning Scammel Street into the unforgettable "Scramble Street." Through everyday outings and small-town adventures, readers explore a familiar world of family, community, and discovery.

Colorful illustrations highlight beloved Marietta landmarks, including the Washington County Courthouse, Weber's Market, and Chi's Service Station, grounding the story in a place rich with memory, wonder, and hometown pride.

The story is also inspired by the author's own childhood experiences growing up in Washington County and spending time in downtown Marietta. Many of the businesses featured in the illustrations were places she visited as a child, creating a nostalgic tribute to the people and places that shape a community.

Young readers will delight in the humor of mispronounced words while discovering a little history along the way. Scammel Street, after all, was named for Revolutionary War General Alexander Scammell-one of several historic figures honored in Marietta's street names. Also, mentions some Rufus Putnam and George Washington.

At its heart, Scramble Street celebrates storytelling, family memories, and the simple magic of seeing the world through a child's imagination.
