A Hundred Shattered Stars (Paperback)

Paperback. Condición: new. Paperback. A Collection of Short Stories by Silver Webb A young girl earns the toughened skin on the soles of her feet during a summer in the Rockies, and comes face to face with "The Lady of the Lake." At the start of the AIDS crisis, a ballet dancer reckons with mortality in "The Last Death." And a fading cinema heartthrob contends with Ol' Blue Eyes, a cunning starlet, and his long-suffering agent, over a weekend in Palm Springs, in "Oh Yes, Dr. No." Welcome to the short stories of Silver Webb, where neither witches nor vampires, ghosts nor outlaws, escape the vagaries of the heart, the absurdity of existence, and the dark humor that abides. A despised tycoon descends to the acid-rain layer of the city to visit the fortune teller and forestall his own death. A forlorn drug runner on an Amtrak train dodges the Feds, the triads, and the triage of friends lost to the business. A witch rides the Boston T with a raven on her knee. A lovesick crafter steals glitter to complete an homage to his favorite rapper. And somewhere in space, floating above all these Earth-bound characters, Tommy Stardust procrastinates on his follow-up novel, hiding in imaginings of that most perfect of decades, the 1970s, ignoring the odd spiders weaving a web in his spaceship. This and more awaits in A Hundred Shattered Stars. This item is printed on demand. Shipping may be from our UK warehouse or from our Australian or US warehouses, depending on stock availability.
