Carol June Franks is a retired teacher turned children's book author. As a teacher, Carol wanted to write in a way to engage her students in reading and to model what it means to be a writer. Participating in Louisville Writing Project's Summer Institute, Carol learned how to write alongside her students interacting with them throughout the process. Her writing of children's books began with poems shared with her students. Carol's goal is to publish children's books that are not only enjoyable for all ages to read, but also can be used by parents and teachers to strengthen children's reading and writing abilities. Hiruni Kariyawasam is from Sri Lanka, where she lives with her family in a town called Ambalangoda. She holds a bachelor's degree in fashion design from Moratuwa, one of Sri Lanka's leading universities.
