Dr. Erie S. Emery Crawford, Ph.D., LSW, discovered she wanted to help the underprivileged and overlooked in society after she and her siblings experienced a failed intervention by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services at an early age. She earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in social work from Loyola University Chicago School of Social Work and has had close to fifteen years of experience focused on expanding access to and increasing the quality of healthcare programs targeting underserved populations. Today, she is a program director for the University of Chicago Department of Medicine and is a public speaker, mentor, and healthcare/social services professional with twenty-five years of experience in social work. Dr. Crawford earned her PhD in business psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2020 to better advocate for those in need. She is an active Christian and has devoted close to thirty years to serving the church community. As a current member of Oakdale Covenant Church, she served the Body of Christ as a leader of women's ministry, Bible class group leader, and Sunday School teacher. After suffering through the loss of her husband to suicide, Dr. Emery Crawford penned The Other Side of Midnight, to help others. She finds joy in her two grown sons, travel, her siblings, friends, a good meal, and her unsinkable determination to move forward in life with grace and peace, despite life's sorrows.
