What History Left Out - Tapa blanda

Sinopsis

When a school assignment asks a middle school boy to write about his hero, he doesn’t choose someone famous. He chooses Grandpa. But what begins as a simple project soon becomes something much bigger. Night after night, Grandpa shares stories the boy has never heard—of growing up in the mountains of Laos, war and survival, secret missions, friendship and loss, crossing the Mekong, refugee camps, and the long journey toward a new life in America. Then Grandpa tells him something he never expected: their stories are missing from the history books. Grandpa was not the only one. There were soldiers, families, leaders, nurses, teachers, and ordinary people whose courage helped shape the Hmong story—yet many of their names and sacrifices were never taught. Now the boy realizes his assignment is no longer just about finding a hero. It is about remembering them all. And if he doesn’t carry their stories forward...who will? Some heroes are famous. Others are simply left out.
