The Communion Book: Two Tables: From the Last Supper to the Coming Feast: A Pastoral Theology of Communion - Tapa blanda

Sinopsis

The Communion Book: Two Tables argues a simple, stubborn thesis: that the Church lives between the Last Supper and the Marriage Supper of the Lamb, receiving Christ's grace now while longing for the feast to come. Neveu explores the major Communion "instincts" across the Church, then offers a constructive proposal you can actually practice: remembrance as participation, presence without magic, and grace that forms people into reconciled, steady, hopeful stewards. It begins with the biblical meaning of remembrance as Spirit-mediated participation in Christ's once-for-all sacrifice, not mere mental recall. It then traces Jesus' vow not to drink again until the kingdom comes as a line from the Upper Room to the final feast. If Communion has become a ritual you endure, consider this book an intervention. Christ did not give His church a snack. He gave His church a covenant meal. Communion is not nostalgia. It is covenant participation, a present-tense encounter that looks backward to the Cross and forward to the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. Grounded in Scripture and written for real churches with real sinners, it insists orthodoxy must become orthopraxy, shaping how we lead, forgive, and steward what we've been given.
