Sinopsis

This volume contains nine chapters that focus on terrorism. Chapter One deals with the scourge of terrorism in the society of information. Chapter Two discusses the cutting-edge role of technology in the struggle against terrorism. Chapter Three focuses on the ethical limitations of technologies, when they are subordinated to the ideals of zero-risk society. Chapter Four continues a much deeper discussion ignited in the author’s previous book, The rise of Thana Captialism and Tourism (2017 Routledge). Chapter Five deals with HBO Saga, Westworld, a futurist and dystopian world where Robots (hosts) are subjected to torture, violence and even sadist practices by the hands of rich tourists (guests). The formula in “Robots We Must Trust” is placed under the critical lens of scrutiny. Chapter Six explores the philosophical dilemmas of the lone-wolf as well as its psychological motivations. Chapter Seven deals with the long-lasting effects of terrorism in western day-to-day life as well as our ways of understanding the alterity, with a focus on the HBO Saga Westworld. Chapter Eight further interrogates the epistemological dilemma of terrorism. Lastly, Chapter Nine explores the future of tourism in light of recent technological innovations, contrasted with the realities of the global risk of international terrorism.
