Through the years, the devastating hurricanes changed the scenery and landscape of his town.RJ excelled in music and played in a band at fourteen. At 72, RJ still enjoys playing and teaching guitar, lead guitar, and steel guitar. His second favorite was baseball in which RJ was presented with sports medals by his school and sports director, Mr. Leroy Harvey. RJ is married to Charlotte Jean Carley Buras. RJ and Jean have been blessed with five children: John, Jason, Heather, Joby, and Sarah Buras. Their children live on the Gulf Coast near them. RJ and Jean have been married for 52 years.RJ's adventures through life have led him from Buras High school to River Boat Captain, pushing barges up and down the Mississippi River, going east and west on the Intercoastal Canal from Port St. Joe, Florida to New Orleans, Louisiana and on to Houston, Corpus Christi, and Brownsville.
