Sinopsis
The last Union Civil War widow, at age seventeen, had married an eighty one year old veteran. She was living in a primitive log cabin unaware that her story had spread internationally. Near death, a delirious man suffering from typhoid fever was admitted to a remote Haitian hospital. A witch doctor was being treated in a bed nearby. In a mountainous rural clinic, a moonshiner's elderly daughter, raised on "corn liquor," visited a doctor for the first time. Desperate to survive, a family was making bottle caps in their one room hovel in Asia's largest slum. This book is a chronicle of a doctor's exposure to these lives and others hidden in the shadows- the life of the poor. It delves into the history and culture that shaped their lives. The stories are written with awe and compassion for these remarkable individuals. Robert Fehr is a retired physician who has resided in Knoxville, Tennessee for forty years. He has been married to his lovely wife for forty eight years. They have three beautiful daughters and six grandchildren-each of which is a gift from God. He enjoys reading, Bible study and outdoor sports.
