Sinopsis
Jayla struggles living in her two worlds, one for mermaids living under the ocean and the other a modern world of human life. Her magical shell necklace transforms her mermaid body into that of a human when on dry land and must remain around her neck while in the human world. Her secrecy to hide her mermaid identify is crucial in protecting herself and other mermaids from the grips of the evil scientists who capture and torture mermaids.
The burden of leadership weighs heavily on Jayla as she prepares to become ruler over her kingdom. Her grandfather, King Kaya, Ruler of Payatobia, will soon die leaving his secrets of the lost City of Atlantis only to Jayla. She is the chosen one to lead her kingdom and set in place the exact conditions necessary to raise Atlantis from the depths of the oceans and unite all mermaids under one kingdom. Her enemies are numerous, especially the Wicken Costia Kingdom of mermaids arising from the dark shadows of the oceans dedicated to war and hate. Jayla has many things to learn and relationships to build to establish her authority and confidence as a leader, but for now, Jayla has no time to rule.
