A girl aged fourteen, is in a wheelchair and dreams of being able to dance again but two boys she knows like her the way she is. A Russian couple in their 50's get into a fight. The wife finds out that her husband was gay and had a love affair with a male family friend. On the other side of the world, in Uganda, at a school for ex-child soldiers, a charity worker tries to keep his rebellious 17-year-old sister in line, unaware that some of the students have dreadful acts in their past.
In the USA, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was enacted, in some part, because of what happened one night in Port Chicago. The daughters of two men who were there that night compare perspectives.
