49 Baseball Stories That Will Warm Your Heart!

This anthology celebrates parenthood and the powerful influence moms and dads have on their sons’ and daughters’ lifelong love for baseball. It is a collection of baseball stories, an emotional trip down memory lane that reminds us of a parent who bought us our first glove, or took us to a memorable game, or for the lucky ones, who played catch with us in our backyard, and the conversation that is inspired by simply tossing a ball back and forth.

Author Rob Sheinkopf retired from a career in higher education and served as a Luxury Suites Concierge for the San Francisco Giants. At Oracle Park he listened to his guests tell their tales of fandom, oftentimes leading to their emotional reminiscences with a parent at the heart of story. This is where Sheinkopf was inspired to write this book; recruiting, collecting, editing and meticulously curating these heartfelt narratives. He has eight of his own stories sprinkled throughout.

In this collection, you will read poignant reflections from award-winning authors, college professors, baseball broadcasters, former players, and fellow die-hard fans, offering a rich tapestry of perspectives.

You will relive memories of your childhood through these heartwarming stories, reflecting on your own relationship with your mom or dad, and your love of America’s National Pastime.

Acerca del autor

Rob Sheinkopf is a retired college admissions director, originally from Syracuse, New York. A baseball fan all his life, Rob grew up on the Syracuse Chiefs. In his retirement years he has worked for the San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park where he listened to fans telling him their baseball stories, developing the idea for this book. Here he has found a forum in which to tell his own baseball stories and share those of others whose parents nurtured their love of the game. Rob and his wife, Lisa Boughner, provide a loving home for their dog, Bochy, in Las Vegas as well as in Ponte Vedra, Florida, dividing their time between the two, trading intense heat for uncomfortable humidity at various times of the year to be with their 4-year-old granddaughter, Molly, and her mom and dad.
