This book presents building management systems' advanced control methods and techniques for use within smart buildings. Building upon the first book in the series, Building Management System Explained: Understanding Controllers and Field Devices, the reader gains a greater understanding of networks, protocols, naming ontologies, feedforward and fuzzy logic control, machine learning and finally demand response control for use within the smart building environment. The reader gains the knowledge required to specify, design, install, commission or troubleshoot a building management system for use within a smart building environment.
It is assumed the reader has an engineering level of mathematics, though, through the use of worked examples, this knowledge is not always required. Aimed at engineers of all levels wishing to understand the implementation of not only building management systems but any control system within the smart building environment.
The aim of this book is to help both companies and individuals change the way they think about controlling smart buildings. This shift from feedback to advanced control techniques is vital to help achieve Nearly Zero Energy Buildings (NZEB).
