"To Save a Wretch" is a thriller mystery novel of ancient and modern slave ships and people trafficking. Two ships are sailing the Atlantic Ocean 250 years apart but linked in a time warp which affects both their voyages. One is commanded by John Newton, writer of "Amazing Grace".In the 1980s, Ross Clifford takes a job aboard a small tramp ship in order to run away from the dire consequences of his complicated personal lifestyle. The ship, however, turns out to be not what it seems: the Captain calls it a "Foreign Legion of the sea", radio communications to shore are limited and unorthodox, some of the crew are heard but not seen, tramp ship officers do not usually wear smart uniforms and never carry a surgeon, especially not a beautiful American Southern belle like Bobbie.
