Representing a snapshot of the author’s life from his birth in a small non-descript railroad town in south-central Colorado, to his retirement in a metropolitan suburb in New Mexico, this memoir contains selected glimpses into eight decades of life and achievement. Born as the Great Depression was ending and World War II was beginning, the author grew up in a rural community as an ordinary young man. He survived school, raised a family, and spent over six decades providing for his family. While doing so, he learned the skills and work ethics of a laborer, absorbed the discipline of education while earning advanced degrees, and later, he served as a law enforcement officer, a teacher, a school administrator, the sole proprietor of his own business, and the C.E.O. of a nation-wide supply company. Successfully raising his family, the author retired and moved to Albuquerque where he writes, continues to explore the nooks and crannies of the southwest, and enjoys his children and grandchildren as they create their own memories.
