This book is derived from chapter 8 and 10 of my main book "Dredging Technology Book1: The basics"It is a compact reference to the Survey tasks for Civil Engineers Project Engineers involved in Dredging Projects. It contains a broad description of position fixing methods starting with a historic backview to build a basis of understanding the “problem” as a background and after that explaining the ins and outs of Global Positioning Systems. The 2nd part deals with depth measuring using echo techniques and tolerances. Special attention is given to the calculation of the dredged volume up to a normal distributed measured dredging depth.
