This book is my third collection of presentations on most of the weekly Torah portions and the Jewish holidays. It also includes a substantial monograph on the use of humor and entertaining stories in ancient Jewish sources. Like the first two volumes, these essays are intended to be consistent with mainline Jewish tradition, while still heavily influenced by my personal background (a Jewish refugee from Egypt) and my scientific and rational outlook (a doctorate in theoretical physics and a career as a defense analyst). Direct quotations from the Tanach, the Talmud, the Midrash, the classical commentators and other traditional Jewish sources abound and form the basis of my presentations. This book is written for people who are serious about studying Judaism from both a spiritual and a rational point of view, in the tradition of Maimonides.
