No-Code or “codeless” apps have caught fire in recent years (especially since the pandemic) and Bubble.io is one of the most popular no-code development platforms. No-code software allows anyone with a little “tech savvy” to create a working app whether you have any programming experience or not. If you've ever wanted to create an app on your own, a no-code platform can be your answer and Bubble is a great option, offering everything from fully functioning templates to machine learning integration.

Getting started with Bubble is simple. Once you sign up you'll find a set of “Lessons” on your home page, guided exercises that take you through the basic features of Bubble. The final lesson involves creating a simple “to do” program and when you finish it there's a list of possible enhancements you could add to the app. Working through those enhancements really taught me a good deal about how to use Bubble in actual practice.

I'm convinced the best way to learn anything is to learn by doing. That's why I spent the time and effort to work through those enhancements, and it's also why I wrote this book for anyone new to Bubble. The book consists of the modifications I made to the Todo app, arranged as exercises, along with my notes and screenshots to show how to complete each exercise. Topics covered include repeating groups, search boxes, popup windows, auto-binding, highlighting, notifications, and user authorization (including signup and login forms).

The result is a patchwork of sorts rather than a carefully styled app, but I think it works as a general guide on how to do a variety of things with Bubble. Hopefully, this book will help you get a bit more familiar with Bubble and what you can do with it, while developing your skills as a “codeless” programmer.
