Dear Readers Everything exists because we exist; nothing exists if we don’t. Life is the greatest gift, and protecting it is the greatest responsibility. Life, from the beginning, is at risk from hazards and human beings, right by birth, try to prevent hazards from becoming disasters. In this struggle for survival on planet earth, the human mind has braved unchartered territory, knowing well that it can make a difference. The faculty of reason is in hot pursuit of efficient, effective, and sustainable living. We owe all human development to disaster risk management; this science is the mother of all sciences. This science suggests that with the outburst of the COVID19 pandemic, the theory of “Survival of the fittest” has outlived its utility; this deadly hazard by transforming into one of the most monstrous disasters of entire human history has revealed that the fittest has no option but to protect the weakest. We will have to coin a new theory of survival, and it is the Above Board Coexistence theory of survival, which upholds that we cannot save ourselves without saving others. The ABC theory of survival is quite a simple theory by practicing which we can save ourselves from coming across the sixth mass extinction, not very far from us. This is the central idea of my next book – “A Bigger Perspective; converting COVID19 adversity into opportunity” – after completing what I thought of publishing first, the revised edition of “Taming Disasters; a key to effective disaster management” because the latter is spadework for better comprehension of the former.
