Charles Pickles studied psychology at the University of St Andrews, Scotland; clinical psychology at the Institute of Psychiatry, King's College London; philosophy at the University of London; and science and religion at the University of Edinburgh, where he completed an MSc with distinction and a PhD. He also studied philosophy at the University of South Africa, graduating with distinction, and worked for over thirty years as an NHS clinician and lecturer in psychology.
