Sinopsis

Catherine and her friends visit a family friend in Ruffec for a short holiday, but soon find all is not what it seems.
When a man's body is discovered in the lake and police refuse to investigate, they are accused of incompetence.
Meanwhile Inspector Maupetit turns up in the area to investigate an entirely different case and one in which Catherine soon finds herself in the middle.
When a second death occurs without an obvious motive, Catherine leaves the investigation to the police, deciding instead to focus on mysteries from the past. Unfortunately, this brings her to the attention of a murderer!
