Inspired by the drawings and poems of the nineteenth-century artist Paul Thumann, Tom Hindley has translated some of the original Thumann poems and added some lyrical offerings to create a classic gem for young readers of all ages. Rhymes for Small and Large is a collection of illustrations and verse by Thumann, taken from what is believed to be his only book, Fűr Mutter und Kind (published about 1880), as well as works by Hindley. The presentation is a work of art in itself, as the images and poems are arranged creatively. Readers will enjoy the simplicity of both the short, charming works, as well as the longer ones. The poems can be educational, entertaining, even amusing at times, to be enjoyed one at a time, or all at once.
