There are ten short stories, each with its own illustrated and numbered story map and related activities. The first few stories are around 350-400 words long, so students can remember them easily. Then, of course, the stories get longer and have more detail as students get more comfortable and confident in their storytelling. These activities are also, of course, two direction. Storyteller and story listener. We all enjoy a good story and listening to one is a great exercise for language students. Students listening to students telling a story can often be more motivating and entertaining than listening to the teacher and they will understand the meaning even when they don't recognise all the words. There are also Lead in, Word Tree and other activities relating to each story which help students remember vocabulary and strengthen their understanding of the stories. Additional activities at the back of the book can be used for vocabulary support and practice. They range from competitions and games to memory exercises and internet research. Teachers will find once they know the stories, the lessons are very low-prep. The language level of the book is around B2 and is designed for anyone interested in developing their English storytelling and public speaking skills - at school, university, work.
