Advent is the season for Christians to remember and rehearse "the coming of the Lord." The birth of Jesus is God's embodiment, or incarnation, among us. With this Advent – Christmas – Epiphany volume, we continue the daily devotional design deemed Triptych. A triptych is a three-paneled piece "hinged" together literally, by theme, or both. In this work, three great "responses" The Magnificat (Luke 1:26-55), The Benedictus (Luke 1:5-25, 39-80), and The Gloria (Luke 2:1-21) find mother-to-be Mary, new father Zecheriah and the very angels of heaven "responding" to events by which God will be and is made flesh, coming among us to stay.
All three hinge upon the themes of a God who acts imagines a world made new and proclaims peace. This "triptych" is designed to propel us throughout a spiritual journey from Advent to Epiphany and, if possible, to help to make our experience all the more enjoyable. As we ponder these scriptures, we are called to deepen our discipleship, profoundly involving God in our inner and outer lives through works of piety and mercy.
We invite you to connect with our core ministry, FastPrayGive.org, where you can participate in a year-round weekly discipline and join a growing movement to end hunger through grace.
