We are so often looking for something outside of ourselves to illuminate our path forward. The truth is that the light, and our path, emanate from inside us once we begin on the path of trauma healing. Trauma masks our inner light, confusing us and causing us to feel shame, self-loathing, and stuckness. Once we realize that we have equated trauma with who we are, we can begin the disentanglement process. We can excavate trauma to reveal our true selves – boundless light, energy and creativity. The poems in this book are about many aspects of this journey.
