In 2014, retired educator Don Gielow, age 77, founded Village Hope Partnership (VHP) as a non-profit organization dedicated to helping rural communities in Nepal. Don thought that within five years he'd be able to reach a few hundred people living in two or three villages. He started with a shoestring budget and only a vague idea of what he was doing.
In the first 10 years since its founding, VHP has touched the lives of over 100,000 people living in more than 400 villages in Nepal. Partnering with local village leadership and facilitated by a Nepali program director, VHP funds short-term projects with long-term impacts. Projects include providing livestock, outhouses, water pumps, medical services, disaster relief, job creation, reforestation, sewing and literacy classes, community centers and more.
Working within political realities, VHP developed a model to spread God's love and hope by providing positive, tangible humanitarian assistance to people of all faiths.
From Small Beginnings tells the story.
