The story of "Bella The Bear's Morning Stretch" is a playful story introducing the yoga series, Sun Salutation A.
Bella the Bear, who lives in the Whispering Woods, loves to greet the sun each morning with her special Sun Salutations routine. She begins by standing tall in Mountain Pose (Tadasana), feeling strong and grounded.
Next, she gracefully folds forward into Forward Fold (Uttanasana), letting her body relax like a gentle waterfall. She then lifts halfway up into Halfway Lift (Ardha Uttanasana), making her back as flat as a tabletop, before returning to her Forward Fold.
For something more challenging, Bella transitions into Plank Pose (Phalakasana), holding her body straight and strong. From there, she slowly lowers herself to the ground and then presses up into Upward Facing Dog (Urdhva Mukha Svanasana), stretching her chest towards the sun.
With an energetic exhale, Bella pushes her hips high into Downward Facing Dog (Adho Mukha Svanasana), feeling a full-body stretch. She then steps or jumps her feet back to the top of her mat, returning to Forward Fold, and repeats the Halfway Lift before finally sweeping her arms up to return to Mountain Pose.
Bella concludes her Sun Salutations with her paws together at her heart, feeling grateful and ready for her day, shining as brightly as the sun itself.
The book features Kati Thompson's designs and main illustrations, detailed with artwork by her daughters, Annie and Charlotte. Kati's husband, Isaac, edited the story, creating a true family collaboration!
