Miguel grew up in Apatzingán, Michoacán, shaped by close family ties and the rhythms of a small town. But limited opportunities fueled his dream of a better life. With hope and grit, he crossed into the U.S. and found work as a wood flooring installer. Life as an undocumented immigrant was harsh, marked by long hours, language barriers, and constant fear. Still, Miguel persevered.
Fate led him to Xu Liang, a woman from Shanghai. Together, they built a family that spanned cultures and continents. Their daughters grew up between Mexico, the U.S., and China, embracing a rich, diverse identity. As Miguel shifted from construction to entrepreneurship, he began connecting Mexican and American clients with Chinese suppliers—bridging worlds through experience and trust.
Eventually, the family settled in Shanghai, where they built a new life. But home never left Miguel’s heart. At sixty, he and Liang returned to Mexico, opening a small noodle shop in Guadalajara—a symbol of their journey and shared heritage.
Miguel’s life is one of resilience and reinvention, shaped by love, sacrifice, and the enduring pursuit of a better future. This is his story.
