This book argues that the Seventh-day Adventist doctrine of the Investigative Judgment beginning in 1844 is fundamentally flawed and contradicts the gospel. The author, Clinton Baldwin, Ph.D., contends that both Old and New Testament evidence demonstrates that: (1) Daniel 8:14 does not teach a 2,300-year prophecy ending in 1844, (2) there is no biblical "day-year principle," (3) Jesus entered the Most Holy Place at His ascension, not in 1844, (4) atonement and cleansing of sins were completed at the cross, not begun in 1844, and (5) the doctrine fundamentally contradicts justification by faith by suggesting believers must pass a future investigative judgment rather than being fully justified the moment they accept Christ. Dr. Baldwin argues that SDAs maintain this untenable doctrine primarily because of Ellen G. White's prophetic authority within the church, despite overwhelming biblical evidence against it. He presents the position that abandoning this doctrine would actually lead to a fuller understanding of the gospel's assurance of salvation and the value of resting in Jesus Christ 24/7s. A must read!
