For centuries, the identities of Black women have been defined by others. Society often views Black women through narrow stereotypes, as loud, angry, aggressive, and more, ignoring the vast diversity of our personalities, cultures, and experiences. These assumptions stem from limited perspectives and systemic bias, not truth.

It’s time for change. Black women are not a monolith.

We are introverted and extroverted, soft-spoken and assertive, and our emotions, when expressed, are often justified. Yet, we face intersectional discrimination across education, employment, healthcare, and all other areas that govern our lives. Harmful assumptions lead to real consequences. Black women face higher maternal mortality rates, overrepresentation in the criminal and mental health systems, and deep economic inequality.

Black women must lead the movement for change. We must challenge harmful definitions and shape our own narrative.
