The Philorcium of George Ripley (1415-1490) was included in the printed edition of his works in Latin issued in 1649 and is also found in many manuscript copies. A ‘philorcium’ is a collection of items, in this case, of alchemical processes. Here Ripley describes in some detail fourteen alchemical processes. These include making the Green Lion, the Lesser Tincture, a secret process involving Vermilion, the Philosophers’ Saturn, among others.
Translated from Latin by Adam McLean.
