Between May 13 and October 13, 1917, apparitions were reported by Lúcia dos Santos and her cousins Francisco and Jacinta Marto in Fátima, Portugal. After a canonical investigation, the diocesan bishop declared the visions “worthy of belief” and officially permitted devotion to Our Lady of Fatima (pastoral letter of October 13, 1930), remaining in the memory of the Church as an insistent call to prayer, conversion, and the Rosary.
For canonization, the Church requires a miracle attributed to their intercession (except in cases of martyrdom). At the centenary (2017), the case of a Brazilian child whose healing was recognized as miraculous by the Pope in that process was made public; the news appears on the official website of the centenary of Fatima. Thus, traditionally, the intercession of the Virgin of Fatima has been sought to obtain miracles or in difficult cases, especially when illness, fear, or exhaustion seem to overwhelm one’s strength.
From that devotion is born Prayers to Our Lady of Fatima for Health: a book designed for the sick, the caregiver, and anyone going through a trial, with 30 prayers inspired by Fatima, biblical support and Catholic tradition, images, and a healing novena to ask for relief, strength, and peace. A spiritual companion for praying each day, offering suffering with hope, and entrusting health—of body and heart—to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, a sure path to Jesus.
