Red Bluff, Utah, is a town in transition. It’s a community falling behind a larger society already embracing the approach of a new industrial shift. Almost right from the outset, Caleb runs afoul of the corrupt rancher ruling the town, its sheriff, and its people. It soon becomes clear that there could also be more to the death of Caleb’s friend than meets the eye.
A loner by nature, our protagonist is suddenly cast into a situation where he must juggle newfound love and friendships, all whilst confronting a secret dating its origins back to the Civil War itself – a secret so profound and far-reaching that it could potentially throw a young nation, still reeling from the aftermath of a destructive Civil War, back into even greater turmoil.
Confederate Gold is a story about deceit, betrayal, and the coming of age. It speaks about the transience of life and the idea that change is the only true constant. It confronts every reader with the ultimate question: who should we be more afraid of – the man who kills with a gun… or the man who kills with ideas?
