“As uncomfortable as it is to talk about,
and I know it is uncomfortable to listen to
it needs to be talked about”
A collection of poems and written works about domestic abuse and how trauma isn’t easily condensed into a neat little box. Sometimes the box has wings, sometimes teeth.
None of the cycles are simple; a lot of them are unappealing to others. I have been abused, and I have been left physically and mentally ill as a result.
These poems were written from a place of severe mental illness and trauma that followed being married to a monster of man and trying to date afterwards.
Questioning whether I was ever going to be free of this constant suffocation of rumination & grief.
It’s gut-wrenching, raw, unfiltered and unhinged. A true reflection of life as an abuse survivor.
What have readers loved about Conversations I Have in My Head?
“I had to continue reading her story. She's so bravely but necessarily raising awareness of abuse and violence against women, her story I know will speak to many, including me. In times now where 1 in 8 women have suffered abuse, is more of an essential read than ever” ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“This is a deeply personal and painfully honest collection about abuse and survival. The poems speak openly about trauma, grief and mental illness. And they're in no way comfortable to read. The book hits hard with the reality of society” ⭐⭐⭐⭐
