Sinopsis

A young woman awakens to find she has been turned into a cyborg. Gaslighted by the assumed normality of her situation she represses her fears and accepts the abuses she is subjected to, compelled to embrace her fate in law enforcement.

Set in a world where individual rights have succumbed to an increasing corporate hegemony, how does one escape corporate rule when one’s own body is a tool for corporate rule? With inbuilt AI and preprogrammed abilities, she is an unwilling superhuman; one of many heavily-armed cyborgs that patrol the mostly vacant streets.

Glorious Killing Machine depicts a dark, sexualised synetopian world of abuse, coercion, body horror, and corporate hegemony. It is a world of constant surveillance and diminished personal freedom.

Lydia is an online apparition who frequents the Fediverse and you can follow her there (currently) at: @LydiaConwell@exile.social. She is just some nobody with an art school background, who lives in London, writes stories in her spare time, owns a cat and loves noisy, avant-garde music.

Lydia often writes futurist worlds, which she describes as Synehitopian - that is, a continuation of our current political and technological landscape rather than a strictly dystopian future. Her stories explore manipulation, control and power dynamics, and people's willingness to succumb to the rule of corporate hegemony.
