Passion is the spark. Strategy is the loom. Integrity is the thread.
Most people enter the world of advocacy by accident—driven by a personal crisis, a systemic injustice, or a heartbreaking diagnosis. They lead with raw passion, only to find themselves exhausted by bureaucracy, stalled by partisan gridlock, and ultimately burned out before reaching the finish line.
When Lesa Brackbill’s daughter, Tori, was diagnosed with Krabbe disease, Lesa didn’t just want to fight the system—she wanted to re-architect it. Lesa Brackbill is an author, strategist, and the Director of Advocacy for Patient Advocacy Strategies, where she bridges the gap between personal narrative and technical policy. Her journey into advocacy began with a devastating "pothole"-a diagnostic gap in Pennsylvania's newborn screening system that fundamentally altered her family's trajectory. This experience transformed her from a grieving mother into a strategic architect of systemic change, eventually leading to the successful passage of Act 133 of 2020.In her book, A Brighter Blueprint, Lesa introduces the Master Weaver framework-a twelve-thread strategic model designed to help advocates, nonprofit leaders, and scientists navigate complex systems with credibility and neutrality. She is also the author of the memoir Even So, Joy.Lesa holds a Master of Arts in Strategic Communication from Azusa Pacific University. She lives in Hershey, Pennsylvania, where she continues to ensure the "safety net" functions for every family.
