Dove's work is characterized by its subtle blend of realism and abstraction, which he achieved through his unique technique of building up layers of translucent paint. His paintings often depict the landscape of the American Midwest, where he spent much of his life. Dove's work had a profound influence on many subsequent generations of artists, including Jackson *******, Willem de Kooning, and Mark Rothko. Despite his success, Dove remained modest and dedicated to his art, working tirelessly until his death in 1946.
