Lady X: A Novel - Tapa blanda

Sinopsis

A mother and daughter's stories intertwine, in this intimate and propulsive novel about the secrets we keep, female resistance, and most importantly, friendship from the USA Today bestseller of The Sunshine Girls.

Los Angeles, 2024.

Margot Cooper’s life explodes after she discovers that her A-List actor husband sent explicit photos to multiple girls on social media. Desperate to get away from the world—and the paparazzi surrounding her home—Margot flees to her mom’s house, teenage daughter in tow, in hopes of finding sanctuary.

But it isn’t the sanctuary she was hoping for. There’s a small cardboard box tucked away in her mom’s attic, filled with damning evidence of a mysterious urban legend and wanted vigilante, “Lady X”, and a blurry newspaper photo of a woman that looks an awful lot like Margot’s mom. Turns out, Margot’s husband isn’t the only family member harboring secrets.

New York City, 1977.

Ginger Daughtery is living her best life with her two beloved roommates, until one of them is assaulted. Astounded by the lack of response from police, the young women take things into their own hands and find themselves igniting a movement that soon takes New York City by storm.

But what began as a little bit of revenge against terrible men—vandalism here and there, signed collectively by “Lady X”—starts to take on a life of its own. Their enigmatic reputation grows beyond their control with copycat criminals running amok through the city, and the hunt for this mysterious vigilante reaches a boiling point. So when a body is found fallen – or pushed – from five stories high, all eyes are on Lady X.

But she’s vanished into thin air.
