Why friends are important?: 20 Short Stories & Parent Tips for Kids Ages 5–7 About Making Friends, Kindness, Mean Schoolmates, and Anxiety - Tapa blanda

Sinopsis

"Nobody wants to play with me." "They laughed at me." "I don't have any friends."

Few words break a parent's heart faster. You want to fix it, but you can't follow your child onto the playground. What you can do is give them the words, the courage, and the social skills to make friends on their own.

Why Friends Are Important is a warm, hand-illustrated collection of 20 short friendship stories for kids ages 5–7. Twins Faye and Finn start at a brand-new school where everyone already has friends. Shy, careful Faye can't get a single "hello" out. Loud, bouncy Finn tries too hard and ends up left out. Chapter by chapter, they learn the real friendship skills every child needs, and your child learns right alongside them.

Inside, your child learns how to:

• Make friends at a new school – say hello more than once and try again after a "no"
• Join in play – what to say when a group already has a game going
• Handle feeling left out – and speak up instead of shutting down
• Cope with rejection – like being picked last in PE
• Deal with teasing and mean classmates – and understand when "just a joke" really hurts
• Say sorry and forgive – kid-sized conflict resolution that actually works
• Set kind boundaries – say "no" without losing a friend
• Handle jealousy and misunderstandings – without assuming the worst
• Keep a secret and build trust
• Welcome kids who are different – and become the friend the new kid needs

Made for parents, not just kids

Every chapter ends with three tools that turn story time into a real conversation:

• Simple Rule – one memorable line your child can carry into the classroom
• Parent Tips – practical ideas you can try at home the same day
• Let's Discuss – four questions that help your child open up about their own friendships

Perfect for:

• Shy or quiet kids who find it hard to start a conversation
• Energetic kids still learning about other people's feelings and boundaries
• Children with first-day-of-school jitters or friendship anxiety
• Kindergarteners, first graders, and second graders starting somewhere new
• Teachers and school counselors teaching social-emotional learning (SEL)
• Bedtime reading: each story takes about 5 minutes to read aloud

No lectures. No scary villains. Just gentle, funny, true-to-life stories with captivating illustrations that show kids friendship takes a little courage, and it's always worth it.

A thoughtful gift for back to school, birthdays, and any child facing friendship problems.
