An Introduction to Political Science from A Theorist’s Point of View surveys the broad field of politics and political science, with early emphasis on foundational contributions to the development of political theory. It includes a tour of major areas of political thought, from Classical (primarily Western) political thought to modern, postmodern, and contemporary political thought in the 21st century. As a professor of government and political science frustrated by narrowly focused or incomplete treatments among introductory texts in political science, the author seeks to present in a single volume a survey of the entire field by including an overview of the subfields of political science, a range of methods of political study, political systems and institutions, and a sample of enduring political issues and problems that students in the field are likely to encounter.
About the author: Jonathon York is a professor of Government at Dallas College in Texas, a member of the American Political Science Association’s Indigenous Studies Network, and a contributing author to the series Honoring the Circle: Ongoing Learning of the West from American Indians on Politics and Society, published by Waterside Productions (2020).
