Code of Conduct — The Engineering of Stability investigates what happens between what moves through us internally and the form we eventually give to our responses in the world. Rather than beginning with behavior after it has already become visible, Fernando Luiz directs attention to the earlier movements that often organize conduct before a person realizes they are already being carried by impulse, interpretation, emotion, urgency, fear, pride, or the need to regain control.
Across six progressive Parts, the book develops a path through impulse, pause, Zero Point, observation, coherence, decision, direction, and stability. These movements are not treated as interchangeable stages. Each one performs a distinct function in the construction of conduct, helping the reader distinguish between feeling and acting, stopping and regaining presence, perceiving and deciding, and making one conscious choice versus building a direction that can remain over time.
At the center of this architecture is Zero Point, understood not as emptiness, detachment, or the absence of emotion, but as the moment in which what came before loses automatic authority over what comes next. From that point, the question is no longer simply how to resist an impulse, but how to allow reality, context, boundaries, consequences, coherence, and direction to participate before a response takes form.
The work then carries this investigation into relationships, speech, silence, influence, conflict, proximity, distance, environmental pressure, the need to be understood, and the need to prove something. Awareness becomes meaningful only when it survives contact with real situations and with other people, without becoming an instrument for control, judgment, or superiority.
This is not a rulebook for suppressing emotions, producing an image of balance, or teaching people how they should behave. Its central ethical principle remains consistent throughout the work: do not use awareness to classify people; use awareness to sustain your own conduct.
Code of Conduct is a philosophical, reflective, and observational investigation into how a person can remain human while becoming increasingly responsible for the form given to what moves through them. Stability, in this perspective, does not mean never being disturbed. It means developing a direction in which disturbance no longer has to decide everything that comes next.
