Library Rules: A Willowborough Public Service Novel (Welcome to Willowborough) - Tapa blanda

Sinopsis

I'm the resident librarian in Willowborough. My nameplate says Library Guardian, which mostly means I live upstairs and I'm the one here after closing.
A list of rules hangs behind the front desk. I know every line of it, and I hold everyone to all of them, no exceptions, because the rules are the reason this town still has people in it.
Friday night the storm came in hard, and it brought someone with it. Someone banging on the front doors. Not knocking. Both fists beating the wood, yelling through the seams that he was desperate.
The list says the doors stay shut after dark. It doesn't say anything about what you do when a man is dying on the steps.
I keep a journal on me at all times because my memory's terrible. Though, despite being a librarian, I lose them faster than seems reasonable. I've got a fresh page open now, and I can't decide what to put on it: How I left a man to die in a storm at the front door, or the first time I broke a rule.
