Acerca del autor
Rudyard Kipling, né à Bombay en 1865 et mort à Londres en 1936, est l'un des écrivains britanniques les plus célèbres de la fin du XIXe et du début du XXe siècle. Fils de parents anglais installés en Inde, il passe son enfance entre deux cultures, une expérience qui marquera profondément son oeuvre. Kipling débute sa carrière comme journaliste en Inde avant de se consacrer à l'écriture. Son talent éclate avec la publication de « Simples contes des collines » (1888) et « Le Livre de la Jungle » (1894), qui lui valent une reconnaissance internationale. Son style se caractérise par une prose vivante et imagée, mêlant réalisme et fantaisie. Kipling excelle dans l'art du conte et de la nouvelle, mais s'illustre également en poésie et dans le roman.
