wanted to carve up the 'sick man of Europe', especially after the
end of the First World War.
In The Armenian File, the distinguished Turkish diplomat and
political scientist Kamuran Gurun presents the first objective
account of this subject available in English. Mr. Gurun has had
full access of foreign and Ottoman archives and has sifted through
the relevant documents from every available source.
In this important historical work he provides the evidence,
which gives the English-speaking world its first opportunity to see
Armenian terrorism in perspective, from the time of the
First World War up to the present day. At the same time
the author examines the links between today's Armenian
terrorists and other international terrorist organizations.
Mr. Kamuran Gurun (1924-2004) was born in Istanbul. After
graduating in Political Science from Ankara University, he joined
the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1948. He served in Bonn,
London and, as ambassador, in Athens and Bucharest.
He has also been Turkey's representative at the OECD and the
Secretary-General of CENTO. He became under-secretary at the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1980 and re-d in 1982. Then, as a
member of the Turkish Historical Society, Mr Gurun divided his
time between historical research and lecturing at Ankara
University. He was the author of several books and articles.
He passed away in Istanbul surviving his wife.
