Malaysian Jasmine Lian is a partner in a prestigious law firm in London. One of her clients bids for the grandest project in Asia—a complete town and university campus in the Malaysian rainforest—and wants to win the contract by any means necessary. Jasmine must choose between East and West, right and wrong. The Flame Tree offers a vivid snapshot of a fast-developing Malaysia, of moral choices and a woman's search for her cultural identity.
