This monograph documents one of the most important archaeological discoveries in China of the late 20th century--that of the intact tomb of the King of the ancient southern polity of Nanyu (contemporary with the Western Han period). During the course of the excavation a trove of fine ritual and ornamental jades and weapons were recovered, in proximity to the actual remains of the interred ruler himself. These remains were also encased in a spectacular burial 'suit' composed entirely of jade. A number of the objects catalogued are also shown 'in situ', as they were uncovered.
