The essays collectively cover the genesis and development of insect conservation, emphasising its strong foundation within the northern temperate regions and the contrasts with much of the rest of the world. Major present-day scenarios are discussed, together with possible developments and priorities in insect conservation for the future.

Acerca del autor
Charlotte y Peter Fiell son dos autoridades en historia, teoría y crítica del diseño y han escrito más de sesenta libros sobre la materia, muchos de los cuales se han convertido en éxitos de ventas. También han impartido conferencias y cursos como profesores invitados, han comisariado exposiciones y asesorado a fabricantes, museos, salas de subastas y grandes coleccionistas privados de todo el mundo. This multi-authored book, with contributions from many of the leading and most influential workers in insect conservation, traces the development of the discipline and its acceptance as an important component of biodiversity conservation. Practical and political problems of the genesis of insect conservation are traced, and current and future scenarios and priorities for progress are discussed. The book is thereby both an encapsulated history of insect conservation and a template for the future, of interest to science historians, entomologists, and conservation biologists, policy-makers and practitioners in many parts of the world.
