Acerca del autor

Henri-Benjamin Constant de Rebecque, known as Benjamin Constant, was a Swiss and French political thinker, activist, and writer, best remembered for his contributions to political theory and religion. Born on 25 October 1767 in Lausanne, Switzerland, he became an influential figure in French intellectual circles. A committed republican from 1795, Constant played an active role in French politics, supporting the coups d' tat of 18 Fructidor and 18 Brumaire. His political writings and theories, particularly on liberty, republicanism, and the nature of government, were highly regarded during his time and beyond. Constant s personal life was also notable, with marriages to Charlotte von Hardenberg and Wilhelmine von Cramm. His father, Louis-Arnold-Juste Constant de Rebecque, and his mother, Henriette-Pauline de Chandieu, were influential figures in his life, shaping his intellectual development. He passed away on 8 December 1830 in Paris, leaving behind a legacy that influenced both political thought and literary traditions. His works continue to be studied, particularly in the fields of political philosophy and literature.
