Sinopsis
Ann Marie reads fragments of her dead husband's unfinished book, and the many love letters he sent her, and in them the social and political events of the time. As she ponders over the writing and the years that the brilliant Jithendran squandered working for a toy company that makes drum-playing monkeys, the narrative gives way to the sweeping saga of a village by the river Periyar.
Grappling with issues of equality, love, caste, religion and politics, Thachanakkara is a microcosm of twentieth-century Kerala. Told through the history of three generations of a feudal Nair family, this sprawling story is reminiscent of the craft of Gabriel Garcia Marquez's One Hundred Years of Solitude and has the scale of Sunil Gangopadhyay's Those Days.
Manushyanu Oru Amukham is an artistic meditation on human existence and is a contemporary classic.

Acerca de los autores
Subhash Chandra is the promoter of Essel/Zee Group of companies, which is a major player in the fields of media and entertainment, packaging, technology, infrastructure and education. Since 2016, he is also a Rajya Sabha MP. Pranjal Sharma has been in print, digital and TV media for twenty-five years. He has led teams at India Today Group and CNBC Network 18, and was founding executive editor of Bloomberg TV in India.
Fathima E.V. is a writer and translator. Her translation of Subhash Chandran's A Preface to Man (2016) won the V. Abdulla Translation Award in 2017 and the 2018 Crossword Book Award for Fiction in Translation. She is a co-translator of Delhi: A Soliloquy by M. Mukundan. Fathima is currently working as an Associate Professor at KMM Govt. Women's College, Kannur, Kerala. She did her MA and PhD from the University of Calicut, and her CertTESOL from St Mary's University, Twickenham. Her poems have appeared in international journals and anthologies.
